Making Of Tyres—Tire Building Machines

A tire is made up from components of many types. A bead of high strength steel cable which is coated with rubber is called a bead. It provides strength to tire which is needed for it to remain on the wheel and rim for handling the forces that are applied by tire mounting machines during their installation on the rims.The body of the tire is made of different fabrics that are arranged in several layers called plies. Polyester cord is known as the most common ply fabric. The cords present in a radial run in a perpendicular position to the tread. Diagonal bias tires were used in some of the old tires. These were the tires in which the fabric was stitched in a position at an angle to the tread. The plies are rubber coated which help them to bond with other components and to seal in the air.
The strength of a tire is depicted by the number of plies it contains. Two body pliers are used in most of the cars. A component is called a sidewall that provides sideways stability for the tire. It protects the body plies and helps in keeping inside the air inside the tire. There may be additional components to help in increasing the stability for sideways.The tread is formed with a mixture of many different types of synthetic and natural Rubber machines. They along with the sidewalls are cut to length. The tread is basically a smooth rubber at this point and it does not have the patterns for giving the traction to the tires.
When compared to large commercial jets, they have tires which consists of 30 pliers or even more. The steel-belted radial tires have belts that are made from steel. They are used for reinforcing the area under the tread. Puncture resistance is provided by these belts that help the tire to stay flat in order to make its best contact with the road.Cap plies are present in some tires. It is an additional layer or two of polyester fabric that help in holding everything. They are not found in every tire and are mostly used in tires with high speed ratings which help all the components to stay in their place at high speeds.
The tire building machine(TBM) assembles all of these components and ensures that all of these components are in the correct place. They then form the tire into a shape and size that is moderately close to its finished dimensions.The tire has all its pieces at this point but they are not held tightly together. It also does not have any sort of markings and tread patterns. This is called a green tire. The tire is then run into a curing machine. The function of this machine is a bit like a waffle iron that molds in all the markings and traction patterns. All the components of the tire are bonded together by the heat. This is called vulcanizing. After giving some finishing and inspection procedures, the tire is finally completed.
